The Saint Benedict Foundation Board raises funds to
support the needs of Sant' Anselmo in Rome. Board Vice Chairman Dr. Stephen M. Butler, was named the new Chairman of the
Foundation during the April board meeting in New York. Faith Seeking Understanding will be featuring some of our board members in
this and upcoming issues.
Robert Cahill, Board of Directors, Outgoing Chairman, Florida
Mr. Robert Cahill of New York City has served on the board of the Saint Benedict Education Foundation and its predecessor, the
Pontifical Institute of Liturgy (PIL) foundation for more than fifteen years, the last decade serving as its chairman. Mr.
Cahill attended a Jesuit secondary school and completed his undergraduate work at Georgetown University before beginning graduate
work at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as a managing partner of the Wall Street firm of Conklin,
Cahill and Co. and has been involved with non-profit organizations nearly all of his adult life. Mr. Cahill served on the advisory
board of Saint John's College, Collegeville, Minnesota, which was his first experience with Benedictine hospitality. Keith F.
Pecklers, S.J., S.L.D., a professor of Liturgy at Notre Dame University as well as at the Pontifi cal Liturgical Institute of
Sant' Anselmo, recruited Mr. Cahill for the board. "I have found my involvement with Sant' Anselmo to be a very
exceptional experience. To be able to be there and visit this important Benedictine center with its particular age and charm, was a
delight," he said. He will continue his involvement with a number of non-profit agencies involved with anti-hunger, such
as Bread for the World and City Harvest.
Stephen M. Butler, M.D., Board of Directors, Incoming Chairman, Florida
Stephen M. Butler, M.D., FACS was born in Utica, New York and moved with his family to Kansas City in 1970. There he attended
Rockhurst High School, a Jesuit Preparatory School, and entered the six year combined B.A./M.D. program at the University of
Missouri-Kansas City directly from high school. He graduated from with his Medical Doctorate in 198 and completed a General
Surgical Residency from 1980-90 followed by a Fellowship in Laparoendoscopic surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital of the Case Western
Reserve system. He practiced in Hannibal, MO and then accepted a practice opportunity in Plant City, near Tampa, where he has been
since 1992. Dr. Butler operates a second offi ce in nearby Lakeland, with his associate Dr. Jill Roehr, M.D. He currently serves on
his hospital's medical staff leadership, and has held every elected office in his specialty at both hospitals. He has served on
the steering committees for the development and construction of the new Emergency Room and Operating Suite at South Florida Baptist
Hospital, and on their strategic planning team. He serves on the Foundation Board of Saint Leo Abbey, Florida. Dr. Butler is married
to Joyce Elaine, and their residence is adjacent to Saint Leo University and Abbey. Dr. Butler has served on the Board of the Saint
Benedict Education Foundation since August of 2007. "I am passionate about my involvement with the Foundation," he said,
"because Sant' Anselmo and the International Benedictine University serve the educational needs of religious men and women
throughout the world. It is through that education and our faith that we will bring meaningful change to an imperiled world."
Dr. Leo J. Shea III, Board of Directors, New York
Leo J. Shea III, Ph.D. is Clinical Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Rusk Institute, a division of the New York
University Medical Center. He maintains a private practice both in New York and Massachusetts focusing on traumatic brain injury,
tick-borne diseases, neurological injury/illness, chronic illness, trauma and loss, contingency and disaster management and
provides psychotherapy and cognitive remediation to individuals and groups. Dr. Shea holds an Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology
from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, an M.A. in Hispanic Pastoral Ministry from Barry University and an M.S. in Clinical
Psychology and a Ph.D. with a dual specialty in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology from the Miami Institute of
Psychology. Apart from his academic degrees, he is a graduate of the Organizational Development and Consultation Program at the
William Alanson White Institute for Psychoanalysis, Psychiatry and Psychology and is a member of both the Institute's
Organizational Work Group and its Trauma Response Training Committee. His trauma work during the 9/11 disaster has been cited in
"When the Worst is Over." Dr. Shea is presently the National Chairman of the National Research Fund for Tick-borne
Diseases, Inc. He also serves on the National Board of Directors of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society and the New York
Academy of Traumatic Brain Injury. Dr. Shea has served on the board for Sant' Anselmo for five years. He notes the board is
responsible for overseeing the funding of academic chairs and student scholarship program at the Vatican's Pontifi cal Institute
of Liturgy, Sant' Anselmo. "It is inspiring to knowing that the future leaders of Catholic Church liturgy are being trained
at Sant' Anselmo and that the knowledge and training that they are learning there will have a positive impact on future
generations of the Catholic faithful worldwide," he said. "As a member of the Board of Directors of the Saint Benedict
Education Foundation, I believe that our mission to support Sant' Anselmo is witness to the continuing and eternal nature of
the Catholic Church and the importance of stewardship in preserving and advancing ' mission on earth."
Camille Kiely Kelleher, Board of Directors, New York
Camille M. (Kiely) Kelleher, a native of Hingham, Massachusetts, is a graduate of Barnard College, in New York City, with a B.A. in
Political Science. She also earned an MBA in Finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. After graduate school,
Mrs. Kelleher began a career in investment management. As a manager of domestic and international equity portfolios for institutional
clients, she worked for S.G. Warburg & Co. in London as well as Citibank NA and Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York.
After retiring from Brown Brothers in 2003, Mrs. Kelleher became actively involved in two programs for alumnae at Barnard College. She
serves as a member of the steering committee and an instructor of Financial Fluency for Women. She also serves as a member of the
program committee for Project Continuum, a program for alumnae in transition. In 2007, she resumed her investment career, on a
part-time basis, using her investment knowledge and experience to assist the Archdiocese of New York in the investment oversight
and administration of its Pension Plan and other investments. Mrs. Kelleher joined the Board of the St. Benedict Education
Foundation in 2004. She is a Dame of the Order of Malta, a Lady Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of
Jerusalem, and is also a member of the St. Vincent's Hospital Auxiliary. Professionally, she is a member of the CFA Institute, the
New York Society of Security Analysts, and the Financial Women's Association. Camille and her husband, Rory Kelleher, live in
New York City and have three grown children.
